Store Closings

Suddenly the number of store closings has increased dramatically. Lowes, which is a store I really like, is closing all of their stores.  Many companies are closing every store and others just branches. Apparently the economic future is looking dimmer than we thought. Popular chains that you see everywhere such as Starbucks, Taco Bell, and even many Macy’s are calling it quits. We still need shops to try on clothes otherwise the returns for many of the online stores will be overwhelming.  Even Nieman Marcus is shutting their doors. Many of the large chain restaurants are quietly shutting down in less profitable locations.  TGI Fridays is closing many restaurants in the states but there was no mention in Europe.  They have a store outside of Dublin. Even the Subways are making changing.  As people seem to have decreased eating out or buying fast foods, the shops are reflecting it.  The only other possibility is that they are going to cheaper take away.  They could also be ordering premade food for delivery or filling up their trollies with premade foods from the freezer section of their groceries.  A person I know was in court recently.  It was family law court.  The opposing attorney was literally harassing her as she did not eat outside food but rather homemade and not frozen foods.  The opposing attorney was incessant.  What is it that people do not understand about home cooking?  It is ten times tastier than restaurants.  You choose your ingredients, you make it the way you want and it is delicious.  I knew a man whose wife was out of town for an extended period.  She asked me to make food for him everyday which I did.  When he abandoned her and their home, she asked me to clean it out before she returned.  When  I opened the refrigerator I almost gagged.  Every meal I had made was rotting in what was now her fridge.  It was sickening but I put it all in trash bags and put it out for collection. Apparently, all the fast food shops were appreciating his business.  How do you feel about all the store closings? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
